Glaring Persecution Of Israel By Many Nations, Time To Redress
Share
Israel has been at the forefront of providing humanitarian aid and assistance to many developing nations across Asia, South America, Africa, Central Europe and Oceania.
To buttress this, the Israeli Centre for International Cooperation (ICIC), through the activities of Marshaw, was established in 1958, with the sole aim of providing tools, equipment and expertise to these developing nations. Also, an Israeli NGO – Israeli Flying Aid (IFA) is globally recognised for providing life-saving aid to people affected by both man-made and natural disasters.
Equally, the Israeli Forum for International Humanitarian Aid (IsraAID) is one of the world’s leading international aid agencies operating globally to support communities in distress.
In fact, the State of Israel is recognised as one of the leading nations with the highest level of religious tolerance and mutual coexistence with people of diverse nationalities and religious inclinations while the reverse is the case in most Arab nations, especially Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Therefore, the glaring attacks on Israel by Russia, China, South Africa, Turkey, Egypt and other European nations in the face of the Gaza war, demanding a ceasefire is an absolute display of hypocrisy and should be condemned in the strongest terms.
The aforementioned countries must not fail to be reminded of their various atrocities and acts of dehumanisation against other smaller nations.
The unprecedented invasion and destruction of Ukraine by President Vladimir Putin of Russia steer the face of the entire globe, notwithstanding his ardent support for Assad’s authoritarian regime in Syria, which is confirmed to have used chemical weapons on children.
China’s undeterred quest for territorial dominance over Taiwan, Tibet, and Hong Kong has not received much international condemnation.
Turkey’s President Recep Erdoğan, a stalwart supporter of the Palestinian terrorist organisation (Hamas) forcefully converted the Byzantine Churches-Hagia Sophia and the Chora Church, altogether with other smaller synagogues to mosques with utter disregard for the Christian community and UNESCO.
Fresh in the memory of foreigners are the xenophobic attacks in South Africa which had resulted in various killings, looting and destruction of properties and sadly no action was taken by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The ICJ and UN only raise their brows on matters concerning the constantly persecuted Jewish State of Israel, very unfortunate.
Therefore, Russia, China, Turkey, Egypt, and South Africa should be first held accountable for the heinous crimes they have committed across the globe before calling for a hypocritical ceasefire in Gaza.
Israel, with a population of 9.5 million amid over 400 million people in the Middle East reserves the right to existence and self-defence.
To forestall a repeat of the deadly Oct 7 massacre of Israelis by Hamas, Israel must complete the task of eliminating Hamas and its terrorist infrastructure in Rafah as any action short of this purpose will be detrimental to their existence.
Accusing nations are challenged to open their doors to Palestinian civilians just as they opened their doors to millions of Ukrainians in the wake of the Russian invasion of February 2022.
It is time for all true allies of Israel to support them and stand against such global hypocrisy.
