An overwhelming majority of Hungarians through their MPs decided, in March, that ending LGBT pride marches on their streets is a key step in keeping their young children safe. That decision triggered rage within the European Union.
The law introduced and signed by Hungarian President and Prime Minister, Viktor Orban and Tamas Sulyok, respectively, aims to end the predisposition of young Hungarian kids and underage children to lewdness, debauchery, and open display of perversion common with such parades.
Unhappy with Hungary’s sovereign decision for itself, the EU Equality Commissioner, Hadja Lahbib, fiercely argues that gay rights to protest—and potentially endanger children sexually—is a fundamental right.
By her stance, Brussels crassly violates its own law: Directive 2011/93/EU, which mandates child protection from all forms of public and private predisposition to sexual abuse in member states . Or perhaps, Lahbib and by extension Von der Leyen, consciously and covertly enthrones the rights of gays and lesbians high above vulnerable children’s rights.
Among its arsenal of retaliatory actions, top EU leaders appear willing to rescind Hungary’s two decades of membership provided other 26 member states do agree. Already over €22 billion rightly due to Hungary remain withheld by the EU since 2023 as a punishment for not surrendering to LGBTQ+ among others.
“Acts like these rubbish its neutrality claims. In its liberal wisdom, see how it violates the paramount financial and economic rights of over 9 million Hungarians just to placate unbridled sodomy desires in less than 200k persons,” an anonymous Brussels correspondent reacted. “When people say the EU has become a political vehicle for fiasco-liberal extremism, this is what they mean.”
The rights and wishes of the people of Hungary to decide what’s best for their children must be fully respected within the EU. Its attempt to adulterate conservative countries with morally debased ideologies is utterly condemnable and must be condemned in the strongest terms of the law.
